Ah, to be resolute?

Abraham Lincoln once said, “Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any other.”

So, are you resolved to succeed in life?  If so, how do you measure that success?  Some of us measure success by the amount of money we make, others by the emotional health of our families.  Some people feel successful when the reach a certain goal, others base their success by how popular they are.  Are these measures of success?  You’ll have to answer that for yourself.

I believe having a happy family and good friends, is a great measure of success.  But if you have no measure of financial success how can you support your family, or contribute to the needs of others?  Having lots of money but an unhappy family life and no real friends can leave you empty and feeling alone even with all your money. To live a life with money and friends but never contributing to the the needs of others can leave you feeling unfullfilled.

So what’s the answer to success?  I can only really answer that question for myself.  In some ways I’m already very successful in other ways I have some work to do.

I believe in balance.  I believe in working hard, but not so hard that you never have time for your family or friends.  I believe in a close family, but if your life is full of financial insecurity you do them and yourself a disservice.  I believe that only thinking of yourself and your own needs will make you a selfish person and leave you feeling unhappy.

It is by working hard and never giving up on your dreams. It is by loving your family more than life itself.  It is by giving of yourself and resources as you can. It is by striving to be a part of something bigger than yourself.  It is by doing and being your best in all areas of your life that one becomes a success.  Of course, that is just my opinion!

May you be resolute in all areas of your life.

Until next time!

Wow! Listen to the man with the ‘big stick’.
    Nice Mike. Well said.
But this needs a little humor, so let’s see if I can help. ; )

I too believe in balance, if I wasn’t so dizzy all the time, there’d be no problem.
    There… much better. : )
